Tradition of excellence

Pacific Poker Review.

When selecting a new (or another) online poker room to play at there are quite a few things to consider, like the availability of your favourite poker version, traffic at the site, the stability of the software and the provider and much more. You should make a short list of the most important issues for you and use it when you are evaluating a new poker room.

I am particularly fond of poker tournaments and especially Sit & Go's, so the Double Or Nothing STT at Pacific Poker suits me just fine. You can play a lot of poker and have a fairly easy time making small to medium profits playing this game format where the Top 50% of the players double their money. These 8 or 10 player STT's (single table tournament) are also very nice for beginners as the risk of loosing larger amounts of money is relatively small.

Pacific Poker is the online poker room for - one of the world's largest online casino sites - and as such there is no problem with reliability or payouts of your winnings.

Pacific Poker's signature tournament event - The Poker Open - has just finished its fifth season with a televised final from England. The tournament boasted a $648.000 prize money pool with the winner walking away with a quarter million dollars. Hopefully online qualification tournaments for the sixth season will start shortly.

Qualifying tournaments for other land based poker events, like Aussie Millions and Asian Poker Tour, are held regularly and these are always popular. The packages and the chance to play in a large land based event holds an appeal for many players - for most of us placing in one of these satellite tournaments is our best hope of getting to play at these large events.

Promotions for the players are always ongoing and they range from bonuses and lucky draws to special tournaments. The actual value of each promotion varies depending on your player type and the individual promotion. Good promotions are offered regularly.

Traffic (the amount of active players) at Pacific Poker good for Texas Hold'em, acceptable for Omaha and pretty much non existing for other poker variants (this is true of almost all online poker rooms). Overall the traffic is good enough for you to have some games to choose from at most regular playing hours.

A couple of other nice things are the ongoing monthly leaderboards - its always nice to compete against other players - and the Frequent Player Points (FPP) loyalty system that awards you points as you play that you can later redeem for cash to help boost you bankroll.

Play well, have fun and stay away from tilting...
